You will come down to earth again, but not on the watch of this ensemble.  The Virginia Repertory Theater’s performance of Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella is that good.  Right off the bat, you will become swept up in the unexpected and quickly enchanted by the particular beauty and mien of Cinderella as played by Quynh-My Luu.  Fresh twists and current themes manage to somehow enhance the magic of this revered fairy tale.  Katrinah Carol Lewis’ portrayal of Fairy God Mother brims with ebullience while Audra Honaker’s performance of stepsister Charlotte more than once, almost steals the show.  Almost, that is, until Prince Topher as played by Boston Conservatory trained, Edward L. Simon, opens his mouth to sing the venerated “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?”  His overall performance is a fantastic slow burn which transports the audience (and of course, Cinderella) completely in the end.  Such is live theater at it’s best.
